Apple has officially announced the Vision Pro 2, the next-generation spatial computing headset that introduces a host of AI-powered upgrades, including real-time object recognition, eye-gesture control, and personalized immersive experiences.
The Vision Pro 2 builds upon the foundation of Apple’s first mixed reality headset by embedding a custom AI accelerator chip, designed to process visual, spatial, and contextual data directly on-device. This enables the headset to recognize objects, environments, and people in real time — enhancing AR interactions with more intelligent and adaptive overlays.
One of the most groundbreaking features is eye-gesture control, allowing users to trigger actions such as selecting menu items, scrolling, or interacting with virtual objects using only their eyes — no hand movements required. Combined with improved hand tracking and spatial audio, this creates a more natural and intuitive user experience.
Key features include:
- AI Scene Understanding: Automatically adjusts virtual content to match lighting, surfaces, and physical objects in your environment
- Personalized Learning AI: Learns user habits to customize app layouts, workspace preferences, and content suggestions
- Enhanced Optics: Sharper micro-OLED displays and a lighter, more ergonomic design
- Seamless macOS and iOS integration: Easily mirror, control, and extend desktop workflows
Apple also introduced VisionOS 2, the latest version of its spatial operating system, with a redesigned home screen, multi-user support, and productivity-focused enhancements for apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote in immersive 3D environments.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said:
“Vision Pro 2 is not just a headset — it’s a personal spatial computer that understands you and your world. With AI at its core, it redefines how we experience and interact with digital content.”
Pre-orders for Vision Pro 2 begin in September 2025, with a starting price of $3,299 USD. Apple is positioning the device for both high-end consumers and creative professionals, especially those working in design, film, and immersive content creation.
With the Vision Pro 2, Apple is signaling a long-term commitment to AI-enhanced spatial computing, aiming to blend the digital and physical worlds more seamlessly than ever before.
